Rooftop Deck in Chicago

By WRW, 1 January, 2009, No Comment

Built a beautiful rooftop deck, adding value to this brownstone in Chicago, IL. Customer called through a referral and asked if I could build a deck on his roof. After reviewing the deck area, discussing the customers needs and wants, and proposing all the possibilities, I was given the go ahead. Constructed a composite material deck with a wrought iron fence to match existing yard fence, giving them a beautiful deck to entertain and relax on.

Cedar Siding Repair / Replacement / Painting

By WRW, 1 January, 2009, No Comment

This project is a perfect example of what you can’t see until after demolition starts. I started this thinking we would replace a portion of the visibly rotten cedar siding… until we uncovered water damage, rodent damage and interior rotten wood. As you will see from the pictures, it was a great undertaking. Keeping the customer informed every step of the way, I ended up replacing much more than original thought. But now the owner does not have to worry about further problems.

Important note: I ALWAYS make sure all cedar is primered and painted on BOTH sides of the wood. This will help insure long lasting cedar, with less opportunity to rot and get damaged from water, etc.

New Deck in Cary IL

By WRW, 1 December, 2008, No Comment

On this custom deck project the customer wanted to update existing deck with composite decking and if possible enlarging it to accommodate patio furniture and grill and still have some entertaining space on a limited budget. So to try to accommodate we stripped existing deck planks and added a couple extra footings, lengthened the deck joist by a few feet and added approximately 100 sq.ft to existing foot print. This saved the customer time and money not having to start from scratch. We completed the job by adding composite decking on a 45 degree angle and  two stair cases with railing.
